Who is Vinod Agarwal and why is he famous for his Krishna bhajans? Vinod Agarwal was born on 6 June 1955 in New Delhi, India. He was a devotional singer, writer and businessman who was known as **Sankirtan Samrat**. He was a devout follower of Lord Krishna and his spiritual guru, Late Shri Mukund Hari Ji Maharaj. He dedicated his life to spreading the message of Krishna consciousness through his melodious and soulful bhajans.
Vinod Agarwal started singing bhajans at a young age and became proficient in playing the harmonium. He got married to Kusum Lata Agarwal in 1975 and had two children, Jatin and Shikha. He also ran a successful garment business with his brother. However, his passion was always singing for Krishna. In 1979, he took Diksha from his spiritual guru and started performing Hari Naam Sankirtan every Sunday morning at his brother’s office. He soon gained popularity and fame for his devotional programmes that attracted thousands of devotees.
Vinod Agarwal travelled across India and abroad to perform his bhajans. He also wrote books and articles on spirituality and bhakti. He released more than 115 audio cassettes, CDs and VCDs of his bhajans worldwide. Some of his famous songs are Radhika Gori Se, Mera Aapki Kripa Se, Teri Banke Bihari Se, Tumhare Shehar Ka Mausam, etc. He sang with such love and devotion that he often went into a trance-like state while singing. His bhajans touched the hearts of millions of people and inspired them to follow the path of Krishna bhakti.
Vinod Agarwal passed away on 6 November 2018 in Mathura due to multiple organ failure. He was 63 years old at the time of his death. His last Sankirtan was on 21 October 2018 in Bhopal. He left behind a legacy of devotion and service to Lord Krishna. His bhajans will continue to resonate with the devotees for generations to come.
