Who is Acharya Shri Mahashraman? He is the eleventh Acharya, supreme head of Jain ÅvÄtÄmbara Terapanth sect. He is a spiritual leader, a scholar, a writer, a meditator and a social reformer. He is well known for his aura and charismatic personality traits. He has been a patron of several humanitarian works, such as Anuvrat, Preksha Meditation, Jeevan Vigyan (Science Of Living) and Tri-Nation Ahimsa Yatra.
Acharya Shri Mahashraman was born on 13 May 1962 in Sardarshahar, Rajasthan. His real name is Mohan Dugar. His parents were Nemadevi and Jhumarmalji Dugar. He was the seventh child among his eight siblings. He lost his father at the early age of seven. His mother taught him good moral values and gave him a good education. He was inclined towards spirituality and religion since childhood. At the age of 12, he became a monk under the guidance of Acharya Tulsi and Acharya Mahapragya.
As a monk, he proved himself as an ardent disciple and a brilliant learner. He mastered various subjects such as Jain philosophy, logic, grammar, literature, history and science. He also wrote many books and articles on various topics related to Jainism and spirituality. He became the Yuvacharya (successor designate) of Acharya Mahapragya in 1997 at the age of 35. He became the Acharya of Terapanth sect on 9 May 2010 after the Mahaprayan (demise) of Acharya Mahapragya.
As an Acharya, he has been leading the Terapanth sect with wisdom and compassion. He has been travelling across India and abroad by foot to spread the message of nonviolence, peace and harmony.
