Escobar: Paradise Lost is a 2014 romantic thriller film directed by Andrea Di Stefano and starring Benicio del Toro, Josh Hutcherson, and Claudia Traisac. Plot Summary

Nick (Josh Hutcherson) is a young Canadian who travels to Colombia with his brother Dylan (Brady Corbet) to set up a surf camp on the coast. There, he meets and falls in love with Maria (Claudia Traisac), a beautiful local girl who happens to be the niece of Pablo Escobar (Benicio del Toro), the most powerful and feared drug lord in the country.

Nick is initially unaware of Maria’s family ties, but soon learns the truth when he is invited to Escobar’s lavish estate for a family gathering. Nick is impressed by Escobar’s charisma and generosity, but also witnesses his ruthless and violent side. Escobar welcomes Nick into his inner circle, but also warns him that he must always follow his rules.

As Escobar’s empire begins to crumble under the pressure of the US government and rival cartels, Nick finds himself in a dangerous situation. He is forced to participate in Escobar’s criminal activities, such as smuggling drugs and assassinating enemies. He also becomes a target for Escobar’s enemies, who want to use him as leverage or kill him as revenge.
