AppCake is an alternative app store that lets you download and install apps that are not available on the official App Store. You can also use AppCake to install IPA files, which are app packages that you can sideload onto your device. AppCake works on both jailbroken and non-jailbroken devices, but there are some differences and limitations depending on your choice.

Installing AppCake with Jailbreak

If you have a jailbroken device with Cydia installed, you can easily install AppCake from its official source. Here are the steps:

  1. Open Cydia and tap Sources at the bottom of the screen.
  2. Tap Edit at the top-right corner and then tap Add at the top-left corner.
  3. Enter the URL of the AppCake source: https://Cydia.iPhoneCake.com and tap Add Source.
  4. Tap the AppCake source under the “Individual Sources” header and then tap All Packages.
  5. Tap AppCake at the top of the list and then tap Install at the top-right corner.
  6. Tap Confirm and wait for the installation to finish.
  7. Tap Restart Springboard when prompted and then launch AppCake from your home screen.

Installing AppCake without Jailbreak

If you don’t want to jailbreak your device, you can still install AppCake using Safari. However, you may encounter some issues with AppCake’s certificates being revoked by Apple, which means the app will stop working until a new certificate is issued. Here are the steps:

  1. Open Safari and go to http://www.iphonecake.com.
  2. A pop-up message will appear, letting you know that you can still install AppCake if your device is not jailbroken. Tap Install and enter your passcode if required.
  3. When the AppCake icon appears on your home screen, the app is installed. Tap it to open it.
  4. You may see a message saying that AppCake is untrusted. To fix this, go to Settings > General > Profiles and Device Management and find the AppCake profile.
  5. Tap the profile and then tap Trust. Now you can use AppCake without any problems.
