In this article, we will show you how to use the Singer 7444 sewing machine, from setting it up to selecting and adjusting stitches, to troubleshooting common problems.

Setting Up the Singer 7444 Sewing Machine

Before you start sewing, you need to set up your machine properly. Here are the steps to follow:

  1. Plug in the power cord and foot controller to the machine and an electrical outlet. Turn on the power switch on the right side of the machine.
  2. Place a spool of thread on the spool pin and secure it with a spool cap. Follow the threading guides on the machine to thread the upper thread. Use the built-in needle threader to thread the needle easily.
  3. Wind a bobbin with the same thread as the upper thread and insert it into the bobbin case. Pull out about 10 cm of bobbin thread and close the bobbin cover.
  4. Raise the presser foot lever and hold the upper thread lightly. Turn the handwheel towards you until the needle goes down and up again. Gently pull on the upper thread to bring up a loop of bobbin thread. Pull both threads to the back of the machine under the presser foot.
  5. Select a needle that is suitable for your fabric and thread type. Refer to the table of needles, threads and fabrics in your manual for guidance. Loosen the needle clamp screw and insert the needle with the flat side facing back. Tighten the screw securely.
  6. Select a presser foot that matches your stitch type. To change the presser foot, raise the needle and presser foot lever, then press the red button on the back of the presser foot holder. The foot will drop off. Place a new foot under the holder and lower the lever until it snaps into place.
